A Work in Progress

Philippians 3:11 – 13

11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: . . .”

We can think of this as saying, I’m not perfect; I have not yet reached what I want to be; I have not reach where I’m going. But “I follow after” – in other words, I’m seeking to become better, to reach maturity, to become perfect.

This acknowledges that we are not perfect. Acknowledge that we are not perfect, we don’t understand everything, we have not yet arrived. We are a work in progress.

God never requires perfection. He loves the imperfect. He loves you.

You are not perfect. You don’t have to be, to press toward the mark.

verse 14: “I press toward the mark for the prize”

There’s a goal before you, a prize, something worth working for.

May God richly bless you this new year as you press toward the prize.
