Those who love God will want to follow God’s ways. There are also great benefits to following God’s ways.
The first step is to be willing.
That means to acknowledge that we don’t know all of God’s ways. It also means to accept that God’s ways are higher than our ways, better than our ways. We have to put away any arrogance that might be trying to sneak into the secrets of our heart.
Then we have need to be open.
Be open that learning God’s ways can be uncomfortable. The closer we get to God, the more of our imperfections we will began to see. We may have to change our habits, our attitudes, our heart. Being open to doing that can be a challenge. (But you are strong, as in, Challenge Accepted!)
We also have to seek God’s ways.
We can’t just think we know God’s ways. Maybe we think we have heard it all our lives, and maybe we think we will just intuitively know His ways. The best place to learn God’s ways is in the Bible. Reading God’s word will bring insights and wisdom. You may not immediately see the benefit or value, but in the long run you will. Listening to Bible preachers and teachers can provide insights for you to consider. But don’t substitute their views for you own, instead seek out God’s ways through Bible study, mediation, and prayer.
“Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” – Psalms 25: 4 – 5.
